This short walk covers part of the Solent Way and bypasses the 18th century Pylewell Park, now home to the 20th Baron Twynham and open for weddings and occasional other events. Leaving Lymington along the river and past the Isle of Wight ferry port, a path leads along the Solent mudflats, edged by oak trees. The permissive path is tidal so be aware of the timings and stout footwear advised. The path goes across the estate alongside farmland and via Sowley Brooms to Sowley Lane. It passes not only the magnificent house, but also Pylewell Home Farm, the cricket pitches and affords glimpses of the lakes too.

It is worth a little diversion over the bridge to the lanes of South Baddesley – the buildings of the village school and ‘Kids Love Nature’ Kindergarten are very attractive as are the cottages and St Mary’s Church is a restful spot with a very lovely churchyard and some Commonwealth war graves.

Nearby are the strawberry picking fields of Goodall’s and the pitch and putt golf course and a walk up along Monument lane will take you to the Burrard Neale monument if you have some more time to explore this area just outside Lymington.
