We have certainly had an abundance of certain things – sweet peas, courgettes, peas and potatoes espcecially. Our wildflower border is stunning now and the other patches of flowers have all flourished too. I have been a little disappointed to have only a handful of redcurrants and no sign of any gooseberries yet. Half our raspberry canes died , but the other half are now bearing fruit.
Lettuce is doing well and my previously sad geraniums are glorious. even our dessicated little Christmas tree is greening up and growing!
This strange summer weather has meant hardly any watering has been needed and many plot-holders are battling with wind-toppled canes and blown-over structures of all sorts.
Apart from the wonderful floral displays, I think our biggest success has been the herb section and I am busy drying and freezing supplies to take us through the winter ahead. I have put some bark mulch around the herbs and will have a few to move around over winter.
For me the highlight of every visit is to go home with a bag of goodies and an armful of wildflowers, sweet peas and other blooms!
